Sa Dec Flower & Ornamental Plant Festival 2025

“Colors of a New Day” – A Century-Old Floral Heritage in Bloom

From December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026, Dong Thap Province will host the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival 2025 under the theme “Colors of a New Day.” More than a cultural event, the festival is a vibrant celebration honoring Sa Dec’s century-old flower village, a symbol of creativity, resilience, and heritage in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, the 2025 festival is expanded in both scale and content, aiming to position Sa Dec as a must-visit floral destination while promoting sustainable tourism closely linked to local livelihoods.

A Century-Old Flower Village with a Living Legacy

Sa Dec Flower Village traces its roots back to the late 19th century, originally formed in Tan Quy Dong village (now part of Sa Dec Ward). What began as a small-scale practice of cultivating ornamental plants for spiritual rituals and traditional celebrations gradually evolved into a thriving craft village passed down through generations.

Over time, local growers embraced scientific techniques and biotechnology, transforming Sa Dec into one of Vietnam’s largest flower and ornamental plant production hubs. Today, the village supplies more than 15 million floral products annually, featuring over 2,000 varieties, with a total production value exceeding VND 3 trillion. Sa Dec flowers now reach markets across Vietnam and increasingly expand to international destinations.

In 2024, Sa Dec’s flower-growing craft was officially recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, affirming its cultural, historical, and economic significance while opening new opportunities for heritage-based tourism.

A Festival of Colors, Creativity, and Experience

The 2025 festival offers visitors an immersive journey through over 30 cultural, artistic, and tourism activities, turning Sa Dec into a spectacular open-air floral gallery.

Highlights include the “Sa Dec Floral Spectrum”, showcasing more than 1,000 rare and premium flower and ornamental plant varieties, and the “Heritage Zone,” which recreates the traditional lifestyle and cultural identity of a flower village that has flourished for over a century.

One of the most anticipated attractions is the large-scale outdoor performance “A Hundred Years of Floral Essence,” a live-action show that tells the story of Sa Dec’s development through music, movement, and visual storytelling. The performance invites audiences to experience the emotional journey of generations who have nurtured and preserved the village’s floral legacy.

Iconic Installations and Check-in Highlights

Creativity and craftsmanship shine throughout the festival grounds. Among the most striking installations is the “Heart of Sa Dec Flower Village,” an artistic structure formed from 1,500 flower baskets, symbolizing the passion and pride of local artisans.

Another standout feature is the Vietnam Map created entirely from ornamental plants, officially recognized by VietKings (Vietnam Records Organization) as the largest of its kind in the country. These signature installations have quickly become must-see check-in points for visitors and photography enthusiasts.

A Must-Visit Destination at Year’s End

Beyond floral displays, the festival offers rich hands-on experiences such as visiting local gardens, engaging in agricultural tourism, enjoying traditional Mekong Delta cuisine, and interacting with growers who have devoted their lives to flowers.

The first Sa Dec Flower Festival welcomed over 245,000 visitors, generating nearly VND 98 billion in tourism revenue. With its refreshed image, enhanced programming, and strong community involvement, Dong Thap Province expects the 2025 festival to attract approximately 500,000 visitors, reinforcing Sa Dec’s reputation as a premier cultural and eco-tourism destination in southern Vietnam.

Where Heritage Blossoms into the Future

More than a celebration of beauty, the Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival represents a forward-looking vision—one where heritage becomes an economic driver, creativity fuels sustainability, and tradition evolves through innovation.

Sa Dec in bloom is an invitation to slow down, breathe in the fragrance of history, and witness how a century-old craft continues to thrive in a modern world. As flowers color the land and stories unfold with every petal, the festival promises visitors an unforgettable journey into the heart of Vietnam’s floral heritage.
