Located at address 1, Hoa Binh Avenue, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho city. Cần Thơ Museum is the largest museum in the Mekong Delta, with a total surface area of 2,700 square meters. The Museum exhibits, presents Can Tho historical relics about cultures and inhabitants in Can Tho through historical periods, through economical-social and cultural achievements of three main ethnic minorities: Kinh (Viet), Hoa (Chinese Vietnamese) and Khmer during the process of nation building and national defence and development, which has resulted in today’s beautiful Tay Do land.

Can Tho Museum was founded in 1976. The museum was officially named as Can Tho Museum in 1992 after many changes. In order to advance the public service and scientific researches, Can Tho Museum started its new construction remodeling contents for exhibition.

In 2006, a retired official staff in Ho Chi Minh City decided to donate hundreds of his heirlooms for Can Tho Museum, including many exotic and valuable objects such as: butterflies, insects, flowers and herbs preserved in artificial golden amber products, eights brown-banded cockroach Buddha statues. The statues were carved in different positions and by fossil amber. When those statues are shined by some lights, the color will change into emerald. The Museum currently displays more than 1,000 precious and various artifacts and objects. Can Tho Museum is deserved to be a fascinating tourist site in Can Tho tours in particular and Mekong Delta travel in general.
